Dramatic On-The-Spot Report
This clip begins with a dramatic on-the-spot eyewitness report from Honolulu that gets cut-off because the phone operator needs to clear the radio-telephone circuit for an emergency call, despite the fact that the reporter, from NBC's Honolulu affiliate, is speaking to the combined NBC "Red" and "Blue" networks (within a year, NBC sold-off the latter to comply with an anti-trust ruling).
The sound quality isn't too good, but that owes more to the shortwave radio transmission required to feed the phone call from Honolulu to the mainland than to the recording technology of the era.
